Job Description
The position is in support of a Department of Defense customer. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with an intermediate to advance level of experience working with such Microsoft operating systems as Windows 2000 / 2003 / 2008, Server Applications such as Microsoft SQL Server 2005 / 2007, Microsoft Exchange 2003 / 2007 / 2010 and SharePoint 2003 / 2007. The applicant will need to have strong working knowledge of Active Directory Services, Microsoft Cluster Services, Group Policies, and a proven track record of supporting large geographically dispersed enterprise networks. The candidate must be familiar with network systems to include the operation and support of Web Servers and a strong understanding of network communication equipment. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in a dynamic fast paced environment that requires team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with client managers and system users. Specifically the Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting systems and applications on a geographically dispersed Windows 2000, 2003, and 2008 network with multiple types of servers and server applications to include but not limited to; Exchange 2003, SQL, Oracle, IIS, SMS and Share Point. The SE will be directly responsible for the effective and efficient operation and interconnectivity of a Department of Defense Network. The SE will coordinate Information Assurance efforts and network security with the Computer Security Manager. The SE will execute the actions required to correct deficiencies or shortcoming and to improve system performance and efficiency and assist in the integration efforts for lifecycle migration plans, as well as new systems with COTS, GOTS, NDI (non-development items), and developmental equipment. Requirements * Top Secret Clearance AND meet the requirements of DCID 6/4. * Current Security + Certification or must obtain one by 31 Dec 2010 * Must have a minimum of 8-10 years experience as a Systems Engineer, with current Microsoft certifications * Has supported a geographically dispersed systems infrastructures with the latest technology * Strong understanding and operational experience using VMware vSphere (4.0) * Operational understanding of HBSS and Cisco IronPort Servers / Appliances * Familiarization with COMMVAULT Enterprise Backup Software and Netbackup Enterprise Backup Software * Familiarization with SAN Technology, specifically HP EVA and NetApp devices * Experience with Altiris 6.x or Altiris 7.x is a definite plus * Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software technical problems related to LANs/WANs * Conduct analysis and problem solving in relation to issues on the Enterprise Network Desired Skills * B.S. Computer Science, Information System, Mathematics, or IT related field. * 10+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer * Military background and Experience with Special Operations.
